Plug pulled on annual Essex event

An emergency order to block an alcohol-fueled annual party in Essex was granted in Kankakee County Court late last week.

Circuit Court Judge Thomas Cunnington granted the restraining order on Thursday that had been filed by the village of Essex to stop a party hosted by Joey Groff, of Gardner. The party has been held the past several years on a 4.5-acres property within the village.

This year's party was set to be held Saturday in the 200 block of South East Street.
